Katie brings to District 33 over ten years of elementary education experience as an educator. She is greatly looking forward to partnering with our community to give our students what each and every one of them deserve—a top-quality, rigorous education that will prepare them well for success in college and life.
Katie holds a Bachelors in Elementary Education (K-9) with a specialization in English from Roosevelt University. She went on to pursue a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from Aurora University as well as obtained her Type 75 certification during that time.
Katie started her career in education in Freeport School District 45. She taught third grade for two years and served on several leadership committees such as the mastery learning initiative that afforded her the opportunity to travel to Compton, California. Katie began her tenure in Community Unit School District 300 where she taught first through 4th grade students. After four years, Katie was given the opportunity to become a Math Interventionist which led into a District Math Coach position for their Title I schools. Katie provided ongoing math support for teachers and students by implementing standards-based methodologies with fidelity.

Katie is looking forward to working with dynamic leaders in District 33 as well as building relationships at Turner Elementary School. Go Tigers!
