West Chicago Elementary School District 33’s Board of Education announced at the June 3, 2021, regularly scheduled board meeting that it has selected Brittany Smith, as the next assistant principal of Wegner School.
Brittany has been an ESL educator for the past 7 years. Before having her daughter, Brittany spent her summer months as the Administrator & Coordinator of a 1st-8th grade ELL Summer Science program that provides ELs with exposure to science content while engaging them in hands-on learning opportunities and practicing academic language with the goal of strengthening academic language and building background knowledge. Brittany received her Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education with an Endorsement in Middle School Language Arts from Northern Illinois University. She obtained her English as a Second Language (ESL) Endorsement through the Northern Illinois University Project Dreams Scholarship shortly after. Brittany completed her Master’s Degree in Educational Administration from her Alma Mater Northern Illinois University. In her many roles, Brittany has served as an advocate for her students and strongly believes in bilingual parent involvement. At her current district, she leads many Bilingual Family Nights throughout the school year.
Brittany is dedicated to the bilingual community and looks forward to joining the Wegner Team!
