Maurice McDavid earned his bachelor's from Knox college, majoring in elementary education with minors in history and Spanish. He went on to begin his teaching career as an 8th grade social studies teacher after one year as an instructional assistant in a special education classroom. During his time in the middle schools he started teaching Spanish and also started his masters program at Northern Illinois. He began work as a dean at DeKalb High School in his final semester of his program in the fall of 2016. After 3 years there, he made the move to become an elementary AP at a bilingual elementary school. He and his wife of 12 years have three beautiful children and are active in their local church.
