D33 Welcomes New Admin to Pioneer School
Lissette Jacobson - Principal, Pioneer Elementary

Lissette Jacobson received a Masters in Educational Administration, a Masters in Literacy Education along with an English as a second language and bilingual endorsement, and a Bachelors in Elementary Education from Northern Illinois University.  She devoted her teaching career to working with English Learners as both an elementary and middle school teacher.  Most recently, she worked in DeKalb CUSD 428 as assistant principal and principal. She believes in being a servant leader to empower staff to strive for excellence. 

She is committed to building positive relationships with students, families and staff in order to create the best educational experience possible for all students. 


Alma Solis - Assistant Principal, Pioneer Elementary

Alma has spent six wonderful years as a classroom teacher working with elementary level students. Her first teaching adventure began at Lane School in Alsip, IL., where she taught first grade, second grade, and most recently in a kindergarten classroom.

Alma received a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from DePaul University. She then continued her education to earn the ESL/Bilingual Endorsement and received a Master’s in Administration and Supervision from National Louis University. In addition, Alma has officially completed her final year as a National Board Certified Teacher Candidate and is on track to earn her National Board Certification! 

On a personal note, Alma and her husband are the proud parents of three wonderful children, two girls and one boy. They are 13, 10, and 7 years old. They enjoy family outings in the city as well as vacationing. Other hobbies Alma enjoys are shopping, and reading a great book.

As part of the leadership team at Pioneer School, Alma commits her support and dedication to each member of the Pioneer family. Alma is dedicated to promoting a positive learning environment for all students and is excited to collaborate with all stakeholders to ensure that student learning is our focus.
