Kellie Barros and her husband moved to the West Chicago community seven years ago. They have two children; a 6 year old daughter and a 2 year old son.
As a former English Language Learner(ELL) student herself, Kellie has always known she wanted to work in the education field. Kellie has two Master's degrees. Her first Masters is in Curriculum & Instruction with an English as a Second Language (ESL) and a bilingual endorsement. Her second MA is in Educational Leadership. She has worked in the field of education for 10 years, and has taught kindergarten through eighth grades. The majority of her teaching career until now has been in bilingual classrooms.
Kellie has worked in D33 for 4 years, where she has expanded her horizons and honed leadership skills by teaching in the general education classroom, working as the lead teacher at summer school, and most recently as an ESL and instructional coach. She loves working with our students and their families from a variety of backgrounds and is excited to continue working in District 33 because it offers a wide range of instructional and community based supports to staff, students and their families.
