Joe Trsar is a proud father of two who has spent the last 12 years dedicated to helping children across the world. After studying in Germany and Austria with Illinois State University, Joe began his teaching career in Taiwan. There he taught native Taiwanese students English for two years while learning Mandarin Chinese. Upon returning, Joe joined Language Stars as an educational administrator where he managed more than 60 teachers from 20 countries in order to help thousands of children across Chicagoland and Washington D.C. learn foreign languages.
Joe then earned his Master’s in Education and joined CPS as a kindergarten-8th grade Mandarin Chinese teacher. He developed and taught the first ever foreign language program in which he created the entire curriculum, earned grants to supply all teaching materials, and taught Mandarin Chinese to more than 800 students. Most recently, Joe has served as a K-5th grade ESL instructor in Plainfield. Joe has served on several school and district committees dedicated to evaluating and developing both the curriculum and assessments based on performance indicators. He also leads both the Technology and Culture Club Committees at his school.
