ARAMARK FOOD SERVICE PROVIDER

for

WEST CHICAGO DISTRICT 33 SCHOOLS

Welcome to the District 33 food service page. You want the best for your students - at ARAMARK we focus on helping students and districts flourish by providing nutritious, student friendly menus that promote wellness and participation. District 33 is part of the National School Breakfast and Lunch program. Breakfast is served at all of our schools. Please be sure to check out all of the menus for breakfast and lunch on the links provided.

Important Changes to the National School Lunch & National School Breakfast Programs

Beginning in the school year 2012–2013, the rules for reimbursable school meals are changing. The USDA is making the first major changes in school meals in 15 years to help ensure a healthier generation of children. These changes are intended to significantly benefit the long-term well-being and success of today’s students and, in turn, will support our district’s core educational mission.

In preparation for these changes, ARAMARK Education dietitians and culinary professionals have been working to develop menu strategies and systems programs that will help District 33 meet the new standards efficiently and cost effectively. Our menus feature low and non-fat dairy options, lean protein choices, access to a wide variety of fruits and vegetables, assorted whole grain products, and 100% fruit juice & water. We continue to

 Reduce added fats, sugar and salt

 Eliminate added trans fats

 Promote and expand the availability of breakfast

Our recipes are designed to meet the nutritional standards, but also to focus on

student acceptability, so students will participate in a healthy school food service

program.

School Breakfast

Way to Go!

  • All schools in District 33 offer Breakfast before school every day.

  • During the 2011-2012 school year 185,491 breakfast meals were served to students of District 33. That’s over 50,000 more breakfast meals compared to the previous year!

Studies conclude that students who eat school breakfast increase their math and reading scores as well as improve their speed and memory in cognitive tests.

During ISAT testing in March 2012, over 1000 breakfast meals were served at no charge to District 33 students!

Over 1200 elementary school students participated in a "Last Hurrah!" breakfast promotion on the last day of school. Students received a grab-n-go breakfast that provided one-fourth or more of the daily recommended levels for key nutrients. We are thrilled that our students enjoyed a healthy breakfast with their peers before embarking on a well-deserved summer break!
